Youth Coordinator-P/T
8-10 hours per week including in person Saturday mornings and some holidays and as needed in person and remote. Most programming takes place from September to June.
The Conservative Synagogue Adath Israel of Riverdale (CSAIR) is seeking a Youth Coordinator to join our dedicated, collaborative, and caring team. You will build Jewish community and connections for preschool to college students with a strong focus on middle and high school by creating fun and dynamic informal Jewish programming and creating deep relationships. Share your love of Jewish learning and living with us. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Jewish learning and culture and be comfortable with Conservative Judaism and traditional egalitarian religious practices. We are seeking a Youth Coordinator who will be thoughtfully experimental and inspired to provide engaging, meaningful, and fun Jewish experiences for our students.
We have a robust youth community that includes close to 120 day school students and 30 students who participate in our Hebrew School. The Youth Coordinator will collaborate with the Hebrew School Lead Teacher in planning part of Shabbat morning programming.
Our synagogue mission is to nourish joyful and meaningful Jewish living and to build an inclusive community through diverse approaches to learning, prayer, acts of loving-kindness, and the deepening of our relationship with Israel.
Responsibilities:
Inspire synagogue youth through engaging programming that fosters Jewish identity, engagement, and connection to the synagogue youth community
Create a cohesive community by integrating all synagogue youth (Day, Public/Hebrew, home school, etc) in meaningful and engaging programming
Train, supervise and support teen madrichim (counselors) as they implement Shabbat morning programming for younger children.
Promote programs through in-person, phone, email outreach, and social media
Collaborate with Hebrew School Administrator/Teacher, synagogue staff, lay leaders, and parents
You are a madrich at heart, inspiring and training others and then supporting them as they step into leadership roles. You are someone who has excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills and is excited about working with children and families as they chart their Jewish path. You are someone who builds relationships and encourages participation. You are an enthusiastic leader who works independently as part of our collaborative team. You can multitask and adjust plans when necessary. You reflect on your work and appreciate feedback. You will have knowledge of and commitment to Jewish living. You are someone who wants to be a part of a thriving and diverse synagogue with a vibrant Shabbat community and many paths of entry for children and adults.
Requirements:
Experience in informal Jewish education such as youth group, summer camp, educational touring, or school programming
Excellent task management, administrative and organizational skills
Be proactive and self-motivated
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite , Google Suite, and ability to learn ShulCloud software
The Youth Coordinator will report to Rabbi Barry Dov Katz
Salary Range
$20,000-$25,000 per year
